attracting major developers to our city

Sixty-seven sprawling acres in our hometown. Ripe for redevelopment.

Our city had one of the most attractive parcels on the East Coast up for revitalization, and the Richmond Economic Development Authority (EDA) wanted to create dramatic marketing tools to promote it. The goal was to show off this parcel in a huge way online so that it would attract potential investors both in the U.S. and overseas. And it was up to West Cary Group to deliver the goods.

This spectacular parcel has superior advantages in terms of location: It’s strategically located near I-64 and I-95 interchanges, is adjacent to Scott’s Addition – a bustling warehouse-turned-residential neighborhood – and surrounds The Diamond – a major baseball stadium for the city’s minor league team. Unfortunately, certain areas had fallen into disrepair and did not photograph well. So, we had to showcase Richmond’s unique energy and pulse and the parcel’s potential to entice developers before the issuance of the RFI and during the RFI process.

The Richmond EDA hoped to receive four or five solid RFI responses. With our help, the city received 15 submissions – several from out of state.

Our principal audience was non-Richmond site developers – those who have developed parcels of this scope but were not as familiar with Richmond. They were the ones who would bring us the big ideas of how to inject the area with a new vibe. To woo them, we designed a sleek website experience (www.rvadiamond.com) from the front end to the back end, utilizing innovative technologies like QR code interaction, drone footage, and a development map with interactive visual touchpoint details.
